File contains a typescript history by the senior pupils, SS#1 Sabine and their Principal, Mrs. Margaret Foster, concerning the history of Sabine Township in Nipissing District. The history discusses links to early settlers from north Hastings County, including L'Amable Lavalley who settled in Hay Lake from the Baptiste-Bancroft area in 1894.

Sales tax, 1961

File contains a printed chapter from the Statutes of Ontario, 1960-1961 entitled “The Retail Sales Tax Act.” Also present is a printed card listing District Sales Tax Offices in Ontario and an Ontario Intelligencer advertisement advising customers to beat the imposition of the 3% provincial tax on 1 September, 1961.

File contains a newspaper article dated 27 April 1962 entitled “Northern Townships Block Salmon Valley Authority,” which concerns the opposition of northern Frontenac, and Lennox and Addington County townships to the creation of a Salmon River Valley Authority.

Salvation Army

File contains newspaper clippings regarding plans for the erection of a new Salvation Army Citadel in east Belleville in 1966, and the opening of a Salvation Army camp for children at Roblin Lake in July 1956. Also present is an October 10, 1925 issue fo the War Cry, the official publication of the Salvation Army, and a printed poster announcing a concert by the Salvation Army International Staff Band at Belleville Collegiate Institute ca. 1950s.
