Umfraville, Ontario

This file contains a copy of a school project written by Kim Hannah from Foxboro Sr. Elementary School. It is titled Umfraville and contains information about the settlement of the ghost town Umphraville founded in the 1860's by Irish settlers Dermot "Darby" Kavanaugh and his brother Patrick on the Old Hastings Rd. well north of Ormsby.

Regional Plan 411 of Lots in Bancroft

A plan of "Lots 1-2, Concessions A-B, Lots 59-67 west of Hastings Road & Lot 1, Concession 15, Township of Faraday, Regional Plan 411." The lots are located in the town of Bancroft, on either sides of the York River. Original map composed in 1911 by W. J. Moore, O.L.S. This version was traced in 1945.

Bancroft Town Plan of Lots 174-179

A plan of Lots 174-179 (inclusive) on the shore of York River, in the town of Bancroft. Scale 100 feet to an inch. The original plan was drawn for Billa Flint on September 13, 1888. It was traced on tissue paper and registered as a Town Plan on December 15, 1911.

The 'Monck' Road : colonization road, 1863

File contains newspaper articles concerning the history of the Monck Road, a colonization road primarily, but also intended as a less vulnerable military route between the Upper Great Lakes and the Ottawa Valley, passing near Bancroft, Ontario. The road was surveyed in 1864-1865 and named in honour of Governor-General, Lord Monck. Also included is typescript transcript of an article entitled "Was the Monck Road for Military Use?" / by Dr. J. J. Talman, first published in the Orillia Packet and Times, 27 June 1940

A certified reproduction of "Part of Bancroft, being subdivision of Free Grant Lots # 63 to 66 in Township of Faraday, including and changing so far as Snow & Madawaska Streets are concerned. Register Plan # 298, being part of Village of Bancroft, on West side of the Hastings Road.” Surveyed by Francis McWilliams O.L.S. and signed July 23, 1901.
