The Hastings County Historical Society was founded in 1957 with the mandate to promote, encourage and conduct research into the history of Hastings County, Ontario.
These materials were collected by members of the Hastings County Historical Society between 1957 and 2000.

This collection comprises some 5,400 vertical files of materials gathered by the Hastings County Historical Society. They cover a wide range of subjects and were received from a variety of different sources, not always recorded.
The collection includes original materials, newspaper clippings, secondary histories and copies.

The material was arranged alphabetically by subject in a series of file cabinets. Later additions were not alphabetical.
