Typescript transcription of the diary of Constable John McCrodan of Belleville Police, Belleville, Ontario from August 1869 to March 1870. The original diary is in the possession of Mrs Cathy Atkinson, a descendant of McCrodan. It was transcribed by Lindi Pierce in 2016.

Album of photographs and tintypes taken between 1869 and 1874, mainly by photographers in Belleville, Ontario. Two individuals are identified by name: Rev. William Craig and Miss Bogart. Also 21 snapshots from 1900 to 1910, including photographs of Helen McKeown's uncle Arthur, who was undertaking medical training as a nurse. One photograph shows 'prisoners at work' taken from Arthur's room in a hospital.

Lake family bible and The White House Cook Book

Bible which belonged to Charles W. Lake and Ann Janet McEwen of Foxboro (married 28 December 1870) and 'The White House Cook Book', published in 1905. Bible was printed by James Spencer, Toronto, and includes 'A Pictorial history of the Books of the Bible' by Rev. Washington B. Erben and the illustrated 'Comprehensive Dictionary of the Bible' by Rev. Alfred Nevin. It includes genealogical information about the Lake family of Foxboro: James Carford Lake (b.1871), Etta May Lake (b.1872), John Wesley Lake (1878-1880) and Mary Edna Lake (b.1880).

The bible contained the following items:
1) Two newspaper cuttings with poems about loss of a child: 'My Little Boy that Died' and 'Dear Little Hands'
2) Newspaper cutting of evidence given by Paul Deshane in the case of the drunkenness of William G. Simmons, 1 July 1887
3) Printed 'South Hastings Sabbath School Association Program of the Eight Annual Convention' held at the Methodist Church in Foxboro on 15 October 1902
4) Printed Order of Service for Canadian Sunday Schools, Sunday 27 June 1915

Cook book contained 'Selected Recipes for use with Cox's Sparkling Gelatine'

The fonds consists of 633 photographs, 23 negatives, letters, sympathy cards, business cards, newspaper clippings, genealogy and family history and a few business papers belonging to the Smith family, primarily Frank Smith of Madoc. The photographs found in this fonds mainly depict the area around Madoc, with some from Bancroft, Maynooth and other places in Hastings County. A large number of the photographs were taken on vacation or while travelling through Canada and the United States. The photographs were taken in Florida, Atlantic City, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Healy Falls, Shaw Falls, Coppercliffe, Ottawa, Port Carling, Gaspe, Napanee, Madoc, Bancroft, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick.

The families primarily depicted in the photographs are the Smith family, McCaw family, Swayne family and Cassidy family. Many of the photographs have names and places written on the back of them. Other people mentioned on the photographs include: Jean Phillips Thompson, Mary Smith Barton, Aunt Vera, Muriel Smith, George Wright, Hugh Pepper, Frank Smith, Frank and Jane Packer Ingersoll, Elizabeth Baker, Martin Porter, Kay Seaton, Helen Whycock, Bessie Woods, Tom Ross, Jack and Ann Yonkers.

There are 3 letters from Henry and Eliza Smith between 1872 and 1874; a birth certificate for Frank Smith, news clippings on the Smith and McCaw families and events in Madoc. There are also family trees and other genealogical information connecting the Smith, McCaw and other families. Much of the information appears to have been gathered by Mary Elizabeth Barton (born Smith: lived from 1921 to 2017).
