Irvine Diamond was born in Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, in 1830. He worked as a teacher in Prince Edward County and later as an insurance agent in Belleville. He was elected as an Alderman to the first City Council of Belleville in 1878. He died on 24 September 1911.

Esther Platt was born in Ameliasburgh, Prince Edward County, Ontario, in 1831. She married Irvine Diamond and the couple lived in Yeoman Street, Belleville, Ontario. Esther died on 5 November 1911.
