Biographical history
Samuel Manson Benson was born on 23 March 1801 in York, Ontario, Canada, the child of Ezekiel Benson and Ann Manson. He became a surveyor and was active in various townships of the Midland District of Ontario. He served in the militia during the rebellion of 1837-1838. Benson died in Belleville on 28 December 1876 of cancer, at the age of 75.

A certified reproduction of the Plan of subdivision of Lot # 13 and Gore Lot # 2 into small lots for Alexander McKay & John Forin. Part of lots laid out by Michael Teal on the north half of Lot #5 In 1st Concession Thurlow on January 30, 1847. Surveyed by Samuel M. Benson, P.L.S. and signed September 29, 1870.
This copy was made in 1972 of plan #138, as registered in the Hastings Land Registry Office.
