The photographs are arranged by subject matter and cover activities in and around the town of Deseronto, Ontario. The majority date from the late nineteenth century and many depict the lumber-related industries of the Rathbun Company in Deseronto. There are also photographs of school groups, churches, railways, First World War airfields and portraits of Deseronto citizens.
File contains a c.1850 description of a fireman uniform and of activities of the fire department and men according to Mrs. Moodie, c.1851 petition by the residents of the upper part of town to form a separate fire company, c.1851 petition by G. & J. Brown to try and form a separate fire company, a brief history of the Belleville fire department, a newspaper clip of a fire at a cigar factory in Belleville, and a newspaper clip on the fire that destroyed Mr.Neilson's house.
File contains original copies of: Petition with many signatures from residents asking that instead of building a new road that the two already existing be made passable; Motion to locate a road from Lonsdale to the Tyendanaga Grand Trunk Railway Station.
