Biographical history
Garnet Dobbs was born in Belleville, Ontario on 10th February, 1890. He served in the 155th and 21st Battalions during the First World War in the regimental band, playing woodwind instruments (his service record is available online at http://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?op=pdf&app=CEF&id=B2550-S040). Dobbs lived at 168 Yeomans Street in Belleville after the war and operated a plumbing, heating and sheet metal business at 12 Victoria Avenue. He died in Belleville on 18th January, 1966.

The letters were lent to the Hastings County Historical Society by Dorothy Bowes, Garnet Dobbs's daughter, for photocopying in 2005 (2005-05).
