Biographical history
Anson Gilbert Northrup was the clerk for the Hastings County Court in Belleville, Ontario, for over 50 years. He was born in Ogdensburg, New York, on 21 August 1832 and died in Belleville, on 28 December1904.

These volumes came to the Community Archives from Belleville Public Library. The later volume carries a stamp for the Hastings County Museum.

Two volumes recording the name and residence of the intended bride and groom, the names, occupation and residence of their bondsmen, and the date of issue of the marriage licence. The volumes were maintained by Anson G. Northrup, Clerk of Hastings County Court.
