The minutes record applications for membership of the society, payments of bills and notes of people who addressed the group. There are some loose papers inside the volume, mainly applications for admission, with reports of character committees on the back.

Johnson was the Principal of the Ontario Business College in Belleville and Mayor of Belleville, 1897-1900, and Member of the Provincial Parliament for Hastings West, 1908-1919.
