This file contains a number of newspaper articles from The Ontario Intelligencer containing pictures and history of the railways in Eastern Ontario; a number of maps showing the routes in Eastern Ontario; a brief review of the history written by R.F. Corley (March 9, 1964) and titled "Railway Development In Central Ontario".

The Union Jack [poem]

Printed illustrated card with poem entitled 'The Union Jack'. The card was produced as a souvenir of the raising of the British flag on No. 3 School House, Octavia Street, Belleville on Tuesday 24 May 1892, Queen Victoria's 73rd birthday. "With Compliments of the 'Old Belleville Rifle Co.' (No. 1 Co., 49th Battalion, Hastings Rifles)."

Tyendinaga - Mill Point Incorporation - 1871

File contains original petition to incorporate Mill Point into an "Incorporated Village" 17 May1871, signed by Edward Wilkes Rathbun and 100 residents of the village. There are also petitions of protest from residents north of the York Road [Highway 2] who did not want to be part of the village. File also includes a plan of the proposed boundaries Mill Point (Map M440-1446).

Robert Shann account book

Parchment-covered paper book containing accounts of Robert Shann, flax dresser of Knaresborough, Yorkshire, England, from 1836 to 1838. The volume also contains the will of Robert Shann, in which he leaves his estate to be divided equally between his borther and sister, Christopher and Jane Shann. The executor was George Elwood, shoemaker and the will was dated 2 June 1827. The will was witnessed by William Jennings, John Turnbull and Rob Butterfield. There are also some botanical and biological notes, a poem, and sketches of buildings and boats.

Later additions relate to activities in the Belleville area by George Simpson, for customers such as Robert Sharp, Jonas A. Canniff, Robert Pitts and William Naylor between 1863 and 1864.
