Plante, Stuart Hilton

Stuart Hilton Plante was born in Wiarton, Ontario on 21 April 1898, the child of Frederick William Plante and Florence (McKinnon). He served in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War as ground crew for 90 Canadian Training Squadron, principally at Camp Rathbun in Deseronto and Camp Taliaferro in Texas. He married Fossia Alfretta Dawe on 28 May 1924. He died in Wiarton on 3 June 1979.

Margaret Helena Jean Wilson was born in 11 May 1912 in Belleville, Ontario, the child of Herbert Roy Wilson and Isabel Adella (Ford). She married Henry Wilfrid Dean Thomas in Winnipeg on 21 February 1940. The couple had one son, Herbert Wilfrid Thomas. She died in Langley, British Columbia, on 24 October 1987.

Lorena Marjorie Haight was born in Rawdon Township, Ontario, in 1924, the child of Charles Frederick Haight and Flossie Mabel (Wright). She worked as a seamstress for many years at MacIntosh Bros. in Belleville. She married George Vernon Ashley (1923-2001) in around 1956 and died in 2009. She was buried in the Stirling cemetery.

Holton, Lucy Louisa

Lucy Holton was born in Belleville, Ontario on 13 August 1874, the child of Charles Phillip Holton and Caroline Harriet Bowell. She studied music in New York and returned to Belleville to teach "Voice Culture" in 1902. She was a member of Bridge Street Methodist Church and its choir. At the time of the 1911 census she was living in Saskatoon where she owned a boarding house at 428 5th Avenue North. From 1916 to 1929 she taught shorthand and typewriting at the Bermuda Commercial School. She died in Bermuda on 13 April 1956.

Baird, A. B. Dr.

Alfred Briggs Baird was an entomologist. He was born in Lake Stream, New Brunswick, on 11 October 1891. He was placed in charge of the Dominion Entomological Laboratory in Belleville in 1929 and spent the rest of his career there, retiring in 1956. He died on 17 September 1960 and was buried in Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa.
