Map of Tyendinaga Indian Reservation

An original waxed-linen map of the "Tyendinaga Indian Reservation," presently the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Published by the Department of Indian Affairs - September 5, 1895. The map shows water ways, concessions, lots, buildings and the Grand Trunk Railway.

File contains a newspaper clipping about Chief John R. Brant being re-elected as chief in 1966 and Carl E. Brant, Ross Brant, and Earl Hill being elected to Reserve Council. There is also information about a chain being donated to Zone F.3, Royal Canadian Legion by the Mohawk Comrades of Branch 280 in honour of the new Zone Commander Earl J. Brant.

Mohawk poems

File contains a typescript poem entitled "Peace to the Nations and Praise to the Lord" by Teressa Brant. Also contains a manuscript poem composed by an unidentified Mohawk woman for Reverend Cyrus Allison, a pioneer Methodist missionary to the Mohawk of Tyendinaga. The name Gertrude F. Clarke was associated with this item by Gerry Boyce.
