Sarah Almina Smith was born on August 15, 1902 in Sidney Township, the daughter of James Albert Stapley and Annette Eggleton. She married John Roy Wilson on March 8, 1922; Alfred Lake on August 20, 1941; and Franklin Smith on June 17, 1953. She died on November 9, 1987 in Belleville, having formerly lived on RR 4 Stirling, Hastings County.

Kenneth Mulholland Bird was born on April 20, 1905 in Sidney Township, son of Richard Newton Bird and Sarah J. Bell. He married Evelyn Reddick on July 17, 1937. As a child he attended Marsh Hill public school, and graduated from Stirling High School in 1919. He received his teacher training at Peterborough Normal School graduating in 1924. His first teaching job was in Roslin. He later taught at Prince of Wales School in Belleville spending twenty-four years there as principal. Before retiring, he spent some time at Avondale and Bayside schools in Sidney. He was a founding president of the Public School Men's Teachers' Federation locally, on the founding executive of the Moira River Conservation Authority in the late 1940s and a founding member of the Hastings County Historical Society. Ken Bird was a Mason and an elder of Bridge Street United Church. Mr. Bird died in Belleville on December 19, 1985.
