Madoc : history and churches

File contains a newspaper clipping and photocopied manuscript history of Madoc Township from early French exploration in 1615 to ca. 1965, including a discussion of the creation of roads, schools and local churches. The historical research was composed by Mrs. Ken Bateman for Gerry Boyce as background for Historic Hastings.

File contains a printed booklet celebrating the 100th anniversary of St. Peter's Church, Madoc, Ontario in 1953. Also contains photocopied typescript editions of the St. Peter's newsletter, January-April 1968. Also present in the file is a bound bank book showing accounts for 1904 of Sydmer Ross & Co. held with the E.D. O'Flynn & Sons Bank, Madoc.

Mohawk poems

File contains a typescript poem entitled "Peace to the Nations and Praise to the Lord" by Teressa Brant. Also contains a manuscript poem composed by an unidentified Mohawk woman for Reverend Cyrus Allison, a pioneer Methodist missionary to the Mohawk of Tyendinaga. The name Gertrude F. Clarke was associated with this item by Gerry Boyce.
