Trenton Lodges

File contains clippings of local newspaper articles about local groups generally with Christian faith based backgrounds, that do charitable work to promote a sense of goodwill in their communities. Some of these institutions include; Trenton Masonic Temple, Boy Scouts, the Oddfellows, and others.

Trenton Community Centre

File contains a number of newspaper articles about the Trenton Community Centre, Also known as; Trenton Community Gardens (1958), Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens (present). These articles provide a detailed history of this arena that has held many events for the local community, ranging from; bingo to basketball.

Thomas Ritchie : sun dial, Parliament Hill

File contains a newspaper article by Thomas Ritchie, Belleville, entitled “The Old Sun Dial on Parliament Hill,” which appeared in The Weekly Intelligencer, 26 May 1921. Ritchie was a member of the Historic Landmarks Association of Canada which furnished the funds to restore the sundial, which dated to the building of the Rideau Canal in the 1830s.

The Women's Canadian Club of Belleville was formed January 31, 1914 to foster Canadian patriotism and presumably dissolved in 1970. It was a member of the Association.
