Herschel Township : draft history

File contains a typescript copy of notes on the early settlement of Monteagle and Herschel Townships including information on settlement, education, railways and resources. The information was provided by children from Herschel school. Also contains two photocopy pages from the 1889 Monteagle and Herschel Directory listing landowners with surnames A-G.

Wollaston Township

File contains several newspaper articles; one from The Ontario Intelligencer, dated July 20, 1933 and titled "The Old Church, the Ridge, In Wollaston Township"; from the Intelligencer, dated May 24, 1957 titled "Mrs. H.M. Hoard, Wollaston, Heads Assessors' Class"; one dated March 23, 1960 titled "Find of Copper Extends Into North Hastings".

Tudor Township : Provincial Land Surveyors' notes

File contains a copy of manuscript field notes by W.H. Deane, Provincial Land Surveyor concerning an 1858 survey of Tudor Township, and copies of manuscript field notes by A. McLeod, P.L.S connected with a survey of Tudor Township in 1863. Also present are i) manuscript correspondence from M.L. Jenkins to Gerry Boyce in response to a chapter review request on Tudor Township history and ii) manuscript notes on surveys and aspects of Tudor Township history by Gerry Boyce.

Marlbank

File contains two newspaper articles from the Napanee Beaver about the Marlbank Cement Company. founded when the Rathbun Lumber Co. built a cement plant and company town at the site of the present day village of Marlbank. The Marlbank plant was an early victim of downsizing. The ruins outside the town remain just as they were left almost 100 years ago.
