Riel, Louis : Special Report of Dr. Lavell, 1885
File contains a printed article from the Spring, 1963 edition of Douglas Library Notes, entitled "The mission of Dr. Lavell." The article is a first-person account of the examination of Louis Riel by Dr. Michael Lavell, MD, Kingston, who was appointed by the Dominion of Canada to examine Louis Riel and ascertain the state of his mind subsequent to Riel's arrest and imprisonment in 1885.

The book used to paste the clippings into was Richardson's New Method for the Piano-Forte. The collection also includes 'The Canadian Forces in the Great War' by Colonel A. Foretescue Duguid, 1947, stamped 'Belleville Poppy Committee' on the front cover, 14pp.

Sgt. Robert Warren, Marmora : military discharge 1812-1819
File contains a photocopied printed and manuscript discharge certificate from military duty for Sergeant Robert Warren, Marmora who served from 1812 to 1819 in the Seventy Sixty regiment. Also present is a photocopied manuscript list of standing committees of the Hastings County Council, 1857.
The Gilbert Parker collection consists of three folders. The first contains pieces of correspondence, primarily to Col. W.N. Ponton. Amoung the items he sent to Ponton were two propogandist pamphlets by Reverend H.M. Gwatkin and William Archer respectively. The second folder contains two of his publications, of which the poem "Was it Some Golden Star" was put to music by Edward Elgar, and two publications directed towards the United States with the aim of bringing them into World War I on the British side. The final folder contains items from the Gilbert Parker Banquet in 1902 with items including a menu and an invitation.
