History
Nellie Parlane Merry was born on April 30, 1890 in Stratford, Ontario, the daughter of William Merry and Maria Granger. She taught English at Belleville High School and then Belleville Collegiate Institute from 1920 to 1954. From 1929 to 1952 she was head of the English department. Miss Merry was active with the Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary for fifteen years, and was a member of the Women's University Club and the United Church. She died in Belleville on August 9, 1987.
