The fonds contains the papers of John S. Turnbull of Belleville, Ontario. Enclosed in the first file is a description of the property of a Mr. Forrin; a notice instructing Mr. Turnbull to pay Mr. James Anderson eleven pounds, ten shillings by Mr. James Turnbull; and a description of the west side of Front Street. The second file consists of items relating to Turnbull's estate including a list of properties he owned, a list of personal effects, the last will and testament of Margaret Campbell, the first and final wills of John Turnbull, and documents pertaining to a dispute over his estate by his family after his death. The third file is composed of various real estate contracts, the fourth file consists of real estate deeds, while the fifth file is made up of real estate leases.

A plan of lot 40 on the west side of Front Street, Belleville, was also part of this collection but is kept separately.

File contains a typescript brief biography of Charles Hayes who was an early promoter of iron ore mining and smelting in Blairton, near Marmora, Ontario.

Plan of Lots 7-9 in the village of Marmora

A certified reproduction of the Plan of Marmora Village - part of Lots # 7,8 & 9 in the 4th Concession of Marmora Township. The Marmora Foundry Company by Robert Symes, lawful agent, declares that this plan contains a true description. Depicted are; Coal houses; Grist Mill; Forge Store; and Mill dam. Surveyed by J. J. Haslett, P.L.S. and signed September 1855.

Plan of the village of Marmora in 1849

A certified reproduction of the "Plan of Marmora Village, part of Lots # 7, 8 & 9 in 4th Concession Township of Marmora." Along the Crow River are buildings: forge, furnaces, coal house, grist mill, sawmill, store. Nelson G. Reynolds, President of the Marmora Foundry Co. incorporated by parliament approved this plan. Surveyed by John J. Haslett, P.L.S. in September of 1849.

Marmora Iron Works : memorial to the Governor-General re: Belleville to Marmora railway

File contains a manuscript original and copy of a memorial submitted by the Hastings County Council to Sir Edmund Walker Head, Governor-General of British North America, ca. 1857 requesting a railroad connection between the Marmora Iron Works and Belleville to facilitate the shipment of ore and provide a stimulus to mining in Hastings County.
