Biographical history
Charles Donald Campbell was born on 23 August 1889 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Donald Mcgregor and Margaret Lumsden Scott Campbell. He worked as City Engineer for the City of Belleville for seven years, but was also licensed as a land surveyor. He married his wife, Eva May Pickard, on January 6, 1914 in Waterloo, Ontario. On May 21, 1929, Campbell was travelling on a provincial highway, half a mile east of Deseronto, when his motorcar was forced off the road. He died instantly from cerebral injuries. As tribute to the bright, young engineer, City Hall closed the following day.
