Hastings County Geographical Survey 1870

File contains a letter sent from the Geological Survey of Canada to Billa Flint in 1870 regarding compiling all the survey reports of Hastings County into one 300 page volume and possibly printing a pamphlet with a map and geographical information for the residents of Hastings County.

“New Names at Least Can Hide the Truth” - article 1966

File contains a newspaper clipping from 1966 about changing the name of geographic features between Belleville and Trenton in order to help remove bigotry in Canada; these sites were given names considered offensive today and have “no place in the geographic nomenclature. The article discusses a letter signed by J. Keith Fraser, executive secretary, Canadian Permanent Committee on Geographic Names, Geographical Branch, Department of Mines and Technical Surveys, Ottawa.

Lower Trent Valley Conservation Authority

File contains a printed booklet entitled "Why Do We Need a Lower Trent Valley Conservation Authority" produced by the Trenton Branch No. 110 of the Canadian Legion which argued for the establishment of a local conservation authority. Also contains a printed invitation to the laying of the cornerstone of Madoc High School, July 2, 1934.
