Sheriff's Sale

The file contains a copy of the notice of the Sheriff's sale of all right and title of Lewis Day & Henry Day to the South half of Lot No. 14 in the 2nd Conc. of the Township of Kingston, dated 3-December-1828.

Trenton: Bridges

File contains a number of original documents from 1857-1863 about the Trenton Bridge built in 1834. Included is a petition of residents to rebuild the bridge (1856), and a motion of Trenton Village council requesting financial assistance from county (1857).

Thomas Ritchie : sun dial, Parliament Hill

File contains a newspaper article by Thomas Ritchie, Belleville, entitled “The Old Sun Dial on Parliament Hill,” which appeared in The Weekly Intelligencer, 26 May 1921. Ritchie was a member of the Historic Landmarks Association of Canada which furnished the funds to restore the sundial, which dated to the building of the Rideau Canal in the 1830s.

Trenton Education

File contains a typescript history of schools and education in Trenton from 1800-ca.1900 by Andrew S. Shurie. Includes brief profiles of Trenton teachers and administrators. Also present are several newspaper articles from 1956-1959 concerning school additions and consolidations, and the planning of a technical school in Trenton in 1959.
