Deeds and mortgages for land in Thurlow Township, Ontario. The properties are 50 acres of the north half of lot 10 in the fourth concession and 11 acres of the west half of lot 10 in the fifth concession. The lands were owned by members of the Read/Reed and Thrasher families. Includes a reproduction of a parchment deed of 1811 of 100 acres of the north half of lot 10 in the fourth concession, transferred by Samuel Reed to John Thrasher.

A map of a tract of land known as Lot # 4 in the 1st and 2nd Concessions of the Township of Thurlow in the Midland District of Upper Canada. Part of 428 acres purchased from Mississauga First Nations peoples. The total area was East and West of Moira River extending to the Bay of Quinte. By Grant, Surveyor General's Office York and Jos. Ridout, Surveyor General on September 6th, 1811. Scale: 20 chains to an inch.

File contains a brief manuscript essay on slaveholding in Upper Canada to 1820, in what later became the Lennox-Addington, and Frontenac Counties. Also present is a typescript transcript of a receipt for the sale of woman and her infant child in 1812 near what is now Colborne, Ontario.
