Group of mostly unidentified photographs, many of them portraits of people. Those which have names are of:

  • William Surtee, senior (picture taken by Burgess of Guelph)
  • John Stewart (picture taken by S. J. Dixon, Toronto)
  • Will Stirling, George, Yorke, Cassie jay, Susie Leavens, Louie Sunter, Annie Sunter, Albert Thompson and Willie Trout having a picnic at "Mountain lake, St. Vincent" (photo stamped "Morton & Raith")

Other photos were taken by H. K. Smith of Front Street, Belleville, W. J. Winter of Meaford, and Forrest & Lozo's of Front Street, Belleville.

The tintype is of a small child. One photographs shows five African-Canadian children standing in a road.

Correspondence concerning industrial relations

Two letters from Kennet Blackwell, Assistant Locomotive Superintendent at Belleville Station, dated November 15th and December 14th, 1876, concerning grievances of engineers and recommending their dismissal and the weakening of their union, the Brotherhood of the Grand Trunk Engineers and asking for instructions in the case of the men organizing a strike.

[These actions led to the Belleville riots of 1876-1877.]

Cecil Everett Brown was born in Frankford, Ontario on 3 May 1895. One photograph is of Private Brown standing with his rifle. One photograph mugshot style photo of Brown in uniform. One document, typed with a brief biographical statement on Private Brown. Commemorative document announcing the death and his service for king and country.

Three young people in uniform, with '1898' inked onto image. Woman standing on left is unidentified, man in centre, seated, is named Fred McKee, woman standing on right is named Emily Grace Kennedy. On back of photograph is written "Mrs Fred McK[torn], Girl of Great Courage, Stirling, Ont."
