This collection represents materials originating or used by W.C. Mikel. The first folder contains three speeches delivered during his time as Police Magistrate and Mayor. The next series of folders contains references and sources for his volume The City of Belleville History. The second folder contains correspondence regarding the book. Folders three through ten contain the notes Mikel used for each chapter. Folder eleven contains the plans for “Quinte City" and documents from the Town Planning Institute among others. Folder twelve contains unattributed reference material and general research for the book. Folder thirteen contains Mikel's collection of material for the 1924 United Empire Loyalist celebration which was held during his first term as Mayor. Folder fourteen contains Mrs. Mikel's obituary, a letter from Mikel to the Bank of Montreal, and a letterhead from the period he served as Police Magistrate. Folder fifteen contains three copies of his book, Godlove Mikel. The sixtenth folder contains a variety of newspaper clippings.
Reports, minutes, correspondence, press clippings and property records relating to the activities of the Women's Christian Association in Belleville, Ontario and their work in establishing the Belleville General Hospital and Home for the Aged and in administering both The Residence, later renamed The Gables, and the Tickell House, homes for older women.

The file contains a copy of a magazine page with photo of the marriage of Emma Chambers (Hastings Co) to Sam Hunter (Newcastle). Also a copy of an article from the December 2004 publication Quinte Kin, titled "Andrew Sherman Blown to Atoms on His Farm" who died 7-May-1886 in the Township of Thurlow.
The file contains a copy of the magazine Harrowsmith Country Life, October 2003 Issue, No. 172 with the caption "Then & Now Photography; A Fond Look at the Changing Rural Landscape. On page 2 there is an article with pictures titled "The More Things Change; A black and white look at the changing character of rural Ontario."
The file contains two papers on the history of the public library in Belleville. The first on titled "From Mechanics' Institute to Corby Public Library; The Development of library service in Belleville, 1851-1908", was prepared by Elizabeth Mitchell, Information Services Librarian, Belleville Public Library (date unknown). The second one titled "The Belleville Public Library; A History of Service" was prepared by Leona Hendry, Chief Librarian and presented March 17, 1992 at the Hastings County Historical Society.
"A Newspaper 127 Years Old" from 1919 about an ancient journal owned by Mr. E.M. Fisk and highlighting the subjects of the then published (16 May 1792) includes sub-titles "Some Strange Punishments", "An Escaped Apprentice", "Cash for Rags" and "The Devil Appears"

Camken (died 1948) - "The Housekeeper's Companion" published by the Ladies Aid Society of Emmanuel Church, Belleville, 1933.
