Northumberland Historical Society : clippings

File consists of several newspaper clippings concerning activities of the Northumberland County Historical Society in1956-1957. Includes clippings related to the acquisition of the historic Barnum House and its conversion to a museum in 1957. Also present is a newspaper clipping and photograph dated 29 July 1959 concerning the unveiling of a historical plaque at Presqu'ile Provincial Park commemorating the loss of the schooner 'Speedy,' which sank in 1804 in Lake Ontario off Presqu'ile Point.

Northumberland County History

File contains printed booklets entitled List of Voters, Township of Brighton in the County of Northumberland for the year 1881, [and 1883]. Includes several newspaper articles concerning the history of communities in Northumberland County including Brighton, Hastings, and Baltimore. Also present is an article regarding the demolition of the Peter's Rock light near Cobourg in 1957.

Northrup, A.G. Papers: correspondence, financial records and Records of Marriage Licences, 1873-1904

File contains several receipts and statements of account owed to Anson G. Northrup, Esq., Belleville. Includes a typescript note listing two record of marriage licenses issued by A. G. Northrup, who held the office of Clerk of Hastings County Court. Also present is the last will and testament of Mary Northrup, March 12, 1867, executed 5 June 1879.

File contains a printed copy of speech by Hon. W.B. Northrup, M.P.(Conservative) East Hastings, Ontario, March 1, 1901, concerning parliamentary debates surrounding the provisions of the Coronation Act. Includes a reprint of an obituary for Hon. William B. Northrup, October 22, 1925. Also present is a small decorative metal plate bearing the inscription W.B. Northrup, June 4, 1879 together with an intricate design of a lily-of-the-valley.

New York School of Interior Design : letter from Sheila Chapline

File contains a manuscript letter from Sheila {Burrows] Chapline, registrar and lecturer at the New York School of Interior Design to Mrs. Dorothy Sargent, the curator of the Hastings County Museum thanking the latter for a gift. Ms. Chapline was a descendant of the Phillips family, the original owners of Glanmore in Belleville.
