This description is for part of a collection of some 4,400 vertical files of materials gathered by the Hastings County Historical Society. They cover a wide range of subjects and were received from a variety of different sources, not always recorded.

The collection includes original materials, newspaper clippings, secondary histories and copies.

Stoner Family - Genealogy

File contains a letter dated 2-March-1970 from Mrs. Mildred Pickett of Beamsville, Ontario addressed to the County of Hasting Museum; she is looking for information about the Stoner Family (Jacob Stoner b. March 1805 & Henry Stoner b. June 1809).

Thurlow, Edward Lord

File contains a photocopy of a newspaper article, 23 May 1953 concerning the life of Edward Thurlow, 1731-1806, Chancellor of England, in whose honour Thurlow Township was named. Also present is a a newspaper article ca. 1970s concerning prize-winning designs for a new promotional Belleville pennant.

Trenton : Air Force

File contains newspaper articles and clippings including a Trentonian article on the official opening of the CFB RCAF chapel in 1949, the appointment of Colonel Harold A. Carswell as base commander in 1969, and a upcoming meeting of CFB officers with Governor-General Roland Michener in Canada's Arctic in April, 1969

Trenton Hospital

File contains several newspaper articles concerning the expansion of the Trenton Hospital from its opening in 1951. Also present are three articles concerning a dispute between the medical staff and administration of Trenton Memorial Hospital in May, 1969.

File contains newspaper clippings regarding the transfer of Capt. June Dwyer as head of the Belleville Salvation Army Corps to take up a new position in June 1969, and her succession by Capt. Ed Gurney.
