Tweed : early history

File contains a typescript copy of a history of the community of Tweed from 1850-ca. 1964. Also present are: i) photocopies of printed extracts from the Hastings Directory, 1864-1865, 1889 ii) a letter ca. 1966 to Gerald Boyce concerning the Woodcock Family of Tweed iii) several newspaper clippings concerning the early history of Tweed.

A certified reproduction of the "Plan of Lot # 10 in Concession 10 of Hungerford Township into Park Lots adjoining the Village of Tweed C. W." The Village of Tweed depicts: grist mill, saw mill, and on opposite side of River: Fulling & Carding Shop. Surveyed by Thomas Fraser Gibbs, P.L.S., and signed September 1, 1864.

List of 81 landowners in Hungerford Township and the village of Tweed who gave up land for the Napanee, Tamworth and Quebec Railway's extension to Tweed in Hastings County. The book lists names of occupiers, concession and lot and acreage of the land taken by the railway company. A note on the front of the volume certifies that the reference book was lodged with the Registrar of Hastings County on October 29th, 1888.
