Roslin : newsclippings

File contains several newspaper clippings regarding social and local business activities in Roslin in 1956-1957 including the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Chisolm's lumber mill in June 1957. Also present is a printed booklet commemorating the 100th anniversary of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Roslin on 3 June 1945 and another marking the 125th anniversary in 1970.

Rawdon Township : diary of W. Hambly, 1793-1794

File contains a reproduction of a manuscript diary of W. Hambly, surveyor, for the period 6 December 1793 to 1 May 1794. The diary entries discuss the survey process in Thurlow, Sidney, Huntingdon and Rawdon Townships. Also present is a typescript transcript of the diary with an appended footnote section which contains a glossary of terms.

Included is a copy of a marriage certificate dated 4 April 1826 for Andrew Rikely (widower) son of Andrew to Eliza Arkles, daughter of John Arkles, married St. Thomas' Church, Belleville.

Ritchie, S.J. Papers

File contains correspondence from Department of the Interior, United States Patent Office to Mr. S.J. Ritchie, dated 1908, as well as from The Atlas Portland Cement Company regarding proposed crushed marble patents and deposit of limestone in Limerick Township. (1907-8).

File contains a typescript essay entitled "Deseronto and the Rathbun Company," by T. Dane Martin. File contents include a manuscript landing certificate issued by E.W. Rathbun & Co., Wholesale Lumber Dealers 22 October 1877, and a manuscript invoice issued 15 August 1895. Also present is a printed issue of Sylva : Lands and Forests Review, Vol. 12, no.6 (Nov-Dec, 1956) which includes a historical overview and photographs of the early lumber operations of Rathbun & Company

Grand Trunk Railway - Claims re: Accident 1855

File contains three original documents: a letter dated 8 November 1855 to Isiah Human; a motion from Meeting of Municipal Council of the County of Hastings circa. 1850; a letter to the Municipal Council of Hastings - all detailing an accident involving Thomas Smith and request for financial restitution to both Mr. Smith and Mr. Henry Fanning.

File contains: map of Grand Junction Railway 1878 Wharf and Dock District Belleville; original letter dated 22 October 1887 to Mr. Singleton from the Grand Trunk Railway, Resident Engineers Office, contracting for supply of wood.
