Hubble family papers

File contains a manuscript list of items among the Hubble Family papers. Also contains two newspaper clippings concerning the Nehemiah Hubble Family reunions of 1959 and 1960, with brief historical sketches of the family.

Hubel, Sarah, 1880

File contains a typescript transcript concerning the life of Sarah Ruth Hubel[sic], b. 1792, daughter of Loyalist Nehemiah Hubel[sic]. Includes references to Rawdon Township in the period of the the War of 1812.

Herschel Township, 1858-1864

File contains a copy of manuscript fieldnotes on a survey of Herschel Township performed by A.B. Perry, Provincial Land Surveyor, in 1864. Also contains a copy of a manuscript report, diary and fieldnotes on Herschel Township, 1858 by J.S. Peterson, Provincial Land Surveyor.

Limerick Township : history

File contains a photocopy of a printed essay contributed by Mrs. G.V. Thompson, Mrs. Thomas Ham, and Mr. A. G. Giles, concerning early settlement, the erection of schools , lumbering and agricultural development of Limerick Township in the period from 1863 to ca. 1935. Also contains a two-page photocopied excerpt from the Hastings Directory, 1864-1865 listing landholders by concession and lot in Limerick Township. Includes a newsclipping from the Ontario Intelligencer announcing the opening of Limerick Central School in St. Ola in 1964.

Madoc : Hannah family genealogy

File contains a typescript extract from the Hastings County Court Registry Office concerning the ownership of a piece of land in Madoc Township, granted to C. Gordon Hannah in 1861. The lot is not identified, but information from the land index maintained by the Marilyn Adams Genealogical Research Centre suggest that it is lot 24 in the seventh concession of Madoc Township.

Marmora : history

File contains a photocopied manuscript history of Marmora from ca. 1820 to 1965. Includes a hand-drawn map of the townsite. Also present is a photocopy of a one page extract from a survey of Midland District, 1822.

File contains a photocopied manuscript memoir by Gertrude Hay Caverly, relating her experiences as an early settler in northern Marmora Township and describing conditions in the township ca. 1850-1857. Submitted to Gerry Boyce for his book, Historic Hastings.
