Ponton (family)

Frankford Fair 1838-1931

File contains a newspaper clipping announcing the appointment of Sir George Arthur K.C.H. Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada and Major General in 1838; and a newspaper clipping printed in 1931 about the history of the Frankford Fair dating back to 1838.

Photographs include: Ezra Holton (1810-1879) and Lucy Clement Holton (1811-1883) [c. 1850] two images of "Grandfather Holton's homestead, 1873?, Belleville, Ontario" - with various Holton family members identified three photographs of Sir Mackenzie Bowell (one signed, one where he has a dark beard and is holding a sword) a collage of photographs of Sir John Johnson's Cabinet Ministers, including Mackenzie Bowell, c.1893 a pair of horses with a cart laden with cut lumber and five men: a man in a suit stands in the foreground, with three more men in the rear a studio portrait of Charles Phillip Holton (1849-1908), wearing a medal, c.1905 postcard showing the Armouries, Belleville, Ontario, with ranks of soldiers outside. One has an x beneath him, with a note saying "your brother in 1913". The postcard was mailed to Lucy E. Holton in Bermuda in 1923 photograph of the Bridge Street Church Orchestra, 1922 flyer for a Grand Concert of the Bridge Street Church Orchestra, held on 19 May 1922 at 8.15. George Harold Holton was the Director "Georgina Waltzes" sheet music, composed by George Harold Holton for his future wife, Minnie Georgina Wilson, published by the George Taberg Music Company of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1898 business card for the Holton Lumber Company, with Sir Mackenzie Bowell and G. H. Holton's names on it unidentified young man, taken by Clarke of Belleville

Royal Visit - Prince of Wales 1860

File contains original documents from 1860; a number of motions from Municipal Council of Hastings meetings, including one dated 1860 expressing the councils regret that His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales remained on board in the harbor. Along with a handwritten copy of a letter addressed to His Royal Highness sent prior to the Royal visit; a printed copy of the Resolutions, together with a copy of the Address intended to be presented.

Stirling : Centennial historical notes

File contains photocopied excerpts of the Hastings County Directory, 1860-1861, 1864-1865 listing residents of Stirling by occupation, and property location. Includes a photocopied newspaper photograph with identifications, of the members of the Stirling Cheese Board for 1894. Also present are four newspaper clippings on miscellaneous aspects of Stirling's history including a history of Corner Block, Stirling by Mrs. Roy Bush.

Royalty Letter Hastings Co. Condolence to Queen - 1862

File contains original documents from 1862. First a motion from the meeting of the Municipal Council of the County of Hastings to send condolences to the Queen and Royal Family on the death of the Prince Consort. A handwritten copy of the letter sent to the Queen on behalf of Hastings County. A transmission dated 26-March-1862 sending a copy of a dispatch from the Secretary of State conveying Her Majesty's reply.
