Robertson, William, Postmaster, Port Trent, 1832-1836.

File contains manuscript statements of accounts and correspondence originating from and received by William Robertson, Postmaster, Port Trent concerning land transactions. Also present are printed completed receipts issued by the Commissioner of Crown Lands' Office, Peter Robinson issued in 1834 for lands sold from the Clergy Reserves in the township of Murray, district of Newcastle.

File contains manuscript correspondence originating from and received by William Robertson regarding lands at River Trent in Murray Township. Also present is a completed, printed approval of the Board of Endowment Office, Toronto, of an application for purchase of lot 28, concession 3, Township of Murray by William Robertson, 29 August 1851.

File contains a typescript transcript from Smith's Canada, Volume 2, 1851 concerning natural resources and industries at Trent Port, Murray Township, Presqu'isle and various islands in the Bay of Quinte near Belleville.

Trenton Reeve

File contains four original documents from the Clerks Office, Village of Trenton, with the names and dates of appointments of the local Reeve. (Archibald Thomson 1855; William Shea 1863 & 1865; James Cumming 1871).

Trenton: Bridges

File contains a number of original documents from 1857-1863 about the Trenton Bridge built in 1834. Included is a petition of residents to rebuild the bridge (1856), and a motion of Trenton Village council requesting financial assistance from county (1857).

Trenton: Business

File contains original documents dating from 1858 to 1911. Including By Law No. 102 passed in 1858 lending the Village of Trenton monies from the County of Hasting to build Market House Town Hall; invoices and receipts .

Trenton : financial difficulties

File contains two manuscript petitions submitted to the Warden and Councillors of the County of Hastings concerning the inability of the incorporated village of Trenton to pay the annual county rate. Also present are : a manuscript report of a special committee consisting of Billa Flint and others investigating the matter and recommending financial relief for the town; and two manuscript resolutions of the council regarding relief from the county rate for Trenton.

File contains a number of newspaper articles, financial statements, and receipts of payment, ranging in years from c. 1876 to c. 1922.
The oldest item in the file is an article in an unknown newspaper, written by Eugene Schuyler c. 1876; about issues regarding the country of Turkey.
There are financial statements from The Town of Trenton, Ontario, and purchase receipts from the same municipality.

Trenton : Ferry license, 1879; Bay of Quinte Navigation Company

File contains a manuscript license issued by the Province of Ontario on 13 October 1879 approving the operation of a ferry from Sidney Township in Hastings County to Ameliasburgh Township in Prince Edward County. Also present are two printed, completed bills of sale, dated 5 November 1880 transferring 64 shares in the steam paddler, Mary Ethel, built at Trenton, to the Bay of Quinte Navigation Company (Limited).

Trenton : The Evolution of Trenton

File contains a printed booklet entitled “The Evolution of Trenton Ontario,” published in 1913, providing a history of the community from the late 18th century, its incorporation as a town, and the industrial and commercial development of the centre. Also present are several newspaper articles concerning Trenton's evolution into a town in 1880.
