Stirling schools

File contains 3 newspaper clippings regarding enrolments, and staffing at Stirling elementary schools and King George High School in 1957. Also contains a newspaper article from the Ontario Intelligencer, 2 October 1961 concerning the official opening of the Sidney-Rawdon District High School in Stirling.

File contains miscellaneous newspaper clippings about citizens of Stirling, Ontario c.1961. Including, but not limited to; John Wesley Morrison, Thomas Allan Eggleton, Thomas Patterson, William James Montgomery, Ewart Samuel Bailey, Waldo E. Rosebush, Ivan Sine, Charles Thompson and, Edmund Allan Carleton.

Stirling Centennial

File contains two newspaper clippings regarding the celebration of Stirling's Centennial in 1958. Includes background on the early settlement of Rawdon Township ca. 1807 and the founding of Stirling. Also present is a mimeographed undated circular letter issued by the Hastings Historical Society, showing the cost of memberships possibly in the 1960s.

Stirling Centennial Collection 1957-58

File contains 8 newspaper clippings on the preparations for and celebration of the 100th birthday of Stirling in 1958. Also includes a raffle ticket associated with the Centennial celebrations, two printed programmes, and a poster advertising events of August 3-6, 1858. Also present is a printed booklet entitled Stirling Centennial Souvenir, 1967 by Mrs. Ethel Luery and Mrs. Jessie Warren.

Rosebush Family : Rainbow Fishing Camp Fire

File contains two newspaper clippings regarding the destruction by fire on August 29, 1960 of the Rosebush Home, a pioneer dwelling constructed by Lewis Smith Rosebush on the Trent River, near Stirling, in 1841. The home had been converted to a fishing lodge and operated as the Rainbow Fishing Camp at the time of the fire.

Stirling : Centennial historical notes

File contains photocopied excerpts of the Hastings County Directory, 1860-1861, 1864-1865 listing residents of Stirling by occupation, and property location. Includes a photocopied newspaper photograph with identifications, of the members of the Stirling Cheese Board for 1894. Also present are four newspaper clippings on miscellaneous aspects of Stirling's history including a history of Corner Block, Stirling by Mrs. Roy Bush.

Stirling Fair

File contains a newspaper article from the Stirling News-Argus, 26 September 1957 concerning the events of the 1957 Stirling Fair, and an article from the Ontario Intelligencer, 21 September 1959 with photographs, concerning the 1959 Stirling fair and agricultural exhibits. Also present is an undated colour postcard reminder of an upcoming Stirling fair.
