Sidney : First Minutes of Township

File contains photocopied manuscript lists of persons nominated for township and parish officers in Sidney Township, 1790-1819. Also contains a newspaper article regarding the establishment of the Sidney Township Council and highlights of its proceedings to the 1930s. Also present is photocopied typescript outline of the history of Sidney Township and Trenton from ca. 1787-1819.

Sidney Township : River Valley and Oak Hills Community, history

File contains several manuscript letters, 1965-1967, from C.S. Chard, River Valley Women's Institute, to Gerry Boyce, President of the Hastings County Historical Society, concerning the history of the River Valley and Oak Hills community ca. 1910-1967; a five page genealogy of early settler families in River Valley and Oak Hill; and a manuscript essay on the history of River Valley ca.1881-1959 by Mrs. Roy Bush, Stirling. Also present are several newspaper clippings concerning meetings of the River Valley Women's Institute, 1960-1964.

Sidney Township : miscellaneous social notes, by-laws, etc. 1909-1966

File contains a printed booklet entitled Township of Sidney, A By-Law Relating to Public Morals and Other Matters,” 1909; a Township of Sidney Financial Statement, 1965; and several newspaper clippings relating to Sidney Township Council meetings, 1957-1966, and miscellaneous engraved wedding and anniversary invitations.

File contains a manuscript history of Glen Ross from its founding ca. 1859 as the settlement of Tupperville to ca. 1918, by Mrs. Arthur Pyear. Also present is a letter from Mrs.Arthur Pyear to Gerry Boyce, 3 June 1965 accompanying the history.

Trenton : Ferry license, 1879; Bay of Quinte Navigation Company

File contains a manuscript license issued by the Province of Ontario on 13 October 1879 approving the operation of a ferry from Sidney Township in Hastings County to Ameliasburgh Township in Prince Edward County. Also present are two printed, completed bills of sale, dated 5 November 1880 transferring 64 shares in the steam paddler, Mary Ethel, built at Trenton, to the Bay of Quinte Navigation Company (Limited).

File contains: a copy of a motion dated 3 May 1791 naming the persons appointed to serve as Town Officers; a copy of the programme from the opening of the "Sidney Township Centennial Hall and Municipal Offices" dated 17 June 1967; a letter addressed to Mr. G. Boyce (Hastings County Centennial) from C.S. Chard with some memos of the area.
