Scanned image of a certificate of first communion and confirmation for Virginia Houle (1874-1944), the donor's grandmother. She received her first communion in Deseronto, Ontario, in August 1885 [at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church] and was confirmed in Napanee, Ontario on November 3rd, 1887 [at St. Patrick's Catholic Church].

The certificate was printed by L. Turgis, 60 Rue Des Ecoles, Paris.

St. Mark's Anglican Church is visible in the background. Stan worked at Gibbard's in Napanee and later was a police officer in Deseronto for five years.

From left to right are: Olive Esther Delmage Hawley (1878-1951); Mary Minetta Hawley MacDonald Selby (1916-2009); Howard Delmage Hawley (1908-1982); George Elmer Hawley (1875-1966); and George Rockwell Hawley (1914-1984). George and Olive moved with their family to Deseronto, Ontario,in 1930 and lived at what is now 317 Main Street next to the small park.

Plaque commemorating Simpson's Tavern, put up by the Hastings County Historical Society on Front Street, Belleville in 2017.

Text reads: "In 1797 James and Margaret Simpson had a small log tavern at the southeast corner of this intersection. In 1799 they built a frame tavern which became the hub of Meyers' Creek for political rallies, military recruitment, training and courts-martial, Masonic lodge meetings and social gatherings. After James died in 1802, Margaret continued the business and was the first woman granted a tavern license in Midland District. In 1820 Margaret build a frame Georgian-style inn on the northeast corner of the intersection. It was sold in 1825 to the Wallbridge family and was demolished in 1973."
