Madoc : history and churches

File contains a newspaper clipping and photocopied manuscript history of Madoc Township from early French exploration in 1615 to ca. 1965, including a discussion of the creation of roads, schools and local churches. The historical research was composed by Mrs. Ken Bateman for Gerry Boyce as background for Historic Hastings.

File contains newspaper articles and clippings including a Trentonian article on the official opening of the CFB RCAF chapel in 1949, the appointment of Colonel Harold A. Hay Bay Church, 1947, service & article re Sir J.A. Macdonald & church

File contains newspaper clippings from 1947 about the Hay Bay Methodist Church and other stories from the Hay Bay area, including where Sir John A. Macdonald grew up a child and a Loyalist family, with one child (John Roblin) having been shot in the knee during the American Revolution, he later fought and was killed in the War of 1812; Mr. Roblin's widow later owned grist and lumber mills.
