The Belleville Project

File contains copies of "The Belleville Project" completed by the Department of Anthropology at McMaster University in Hamilton, the project contains lists of burials, baptisms, and marriages performed at St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Belleville from 1821 to 1874.

Clarke, Francis Mason

File contains original 1877 diary for Francis Mason Clarke; a brief biography written by his great-granddaughter Katherine Mills (2003); photo and obiturary from the Daily Intelligencer, April 17, 1929.

Louis Curtiss, Progressive Architecture

The file contains a letter from the United States Steel Corporation, dated 8-November 1963 addressed to the Mayor of Belleville. It includes an article about Louis Curtiss, reprinted from the August 1983 issue of Progressive Architecture magazine. Louis Curtiss was born in Belleville on 1-July-1865, the second son of Frances Elvira and Don Carlos Curtiss.

Twiddy's Grocery Store - Moira Street, Belleville

The file contains a newspaper article from the Intelligencer, dated July 17, 2004 and titled "Remember When - Bygone era when corner stores dotted community", about the family owned Twiddy's Grocery store at 156 Moira Street West in Belleville. It was opened by Paul and Janet Twiddy in 1913 and was passed to their daughter Phyllis who married Alex Burley.
