Rawdon : township officers, 1860-1863
File contains two manuscript declarations by Thomas Douglas, Rawdon Township Clerk, dated 19 January 1863, certifying that James Cooke, and Robert Lison were duly elected as Reeve and Deputy-Reeve, respectively, for the Township of Rawdon. Also present is a completed printed affidavit certifying George Conley's election as Reeve of the Township of Rawdon, 16 January 1866. Also includes a manuscript By Law no. 85, issued by the Council of the County of Hastings on 8 September 1860 concerning the disposal of road allowances in the Township of Rawdon.
Royal Visit - Prince of Wales 1860
File contains original documents from 1860; a number of motions from Municipal Council of Hastings meetings, including one dated 1860 expressing the councils regret that His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales remained on board in the harbor. Along with a handwritten copy of a letter addressed to His Royal Highness sent prior to the Royal visit; a printed copy of the Resolutions, together with a copy of the Address intended to be presented.
File contains a printed circular letter by Colonist and Atlas Printers, Toronto, listing the cost of blank forms such as assessment and collectors' rolls, and stationery for use by municipal governments for the year 1860.
Stirling : Centennial historical notes
File contains photocopied excerpts of the Hastings County Directory, 1860-1861, 1864-1865 listing residents of Stirling by occupation, and property location. Includes a photocopied newspaper photograph with identifications, of the members of the Stirling Cheese Board for 1894. Also present are four newspaper clippings on miscellaneous aspects of Stirling's history including a history of Corner Block, Stirling by Mrs. Roy Bush.

Railway: Hastings County, 1861
File contains a manuscript resolution of the Council of the County of Hastings, 28 January 1862 resolving that no further aid should be given by the Government of Canada to the Grand Trunk Railway. Also contains a manuscript petition of the Corporation of the County of Hastings following upon the above resolution. Also present is a manuscript letter of 30 October 1861 from John MacKelcan, Hamilton, to the Warden of Hastings County requesting a meeting of municipalities concerning municipal indebtedness relating to railway construction in Canada West, and a letter of response from the Warden, County of Hastings, 4 November 1861, declining the invitation as Hastings County was not in a position of indebtedness due to railway financing.

File contains a one page printed completed letters patent form authorizing the establishment of semi-annual fairs in the Village of Stirling, issued by the Province of Canada, 15 November 1861.

File contains original documents from 1862. First a motion from the meeting of the Municipal Council of the County of Hastings to send condolences to the Queen and Royal Family on the death of the Prince Consort. A handwritten copy of the letter sent to the Queen on behalf of Hastings County. A transmission dated 26-March-1862 sending a copy of a dispatch from the Secretary of State conveying Her Majesty's reply.
