Thurlow, Edward Lord

File contains a photocopy of a newspaper article, 23 May 1953 concerning the life of Edward Thurlow, 1731-1806, Chancellor of England, in whose honour Thurlow Township was named. Also present is a a newspaper article ca. 1970s concerning prize-winning designs for a new promotional Belleville pennant.

File contains a photocopied newspaper notice of a shareholders meeting of the Belleville and North Hastings Railway Company, 1 October 1878. Also present is manuscript letter from [G. Sergeant] General Manager of the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada 29 April 1891 to W.N. Ponton rejecting the extension of a double track at Belleville.

Director Grand Junction Railway; elected Legislative Council for Quinte Division. Elected House of Commons for Hastings East. Called to the Senate 1871.

Royal Visit - Prince of Wales 1860

File contains original documents from 1860; a number of motions from Municipal Council of Hastings meetings, including one dated 1860 expressing the councils regret that His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales remained on board in the harbor. Along with a handwritten copy of a letter addressed to His Royal Highness sent prior to the Royal visit; a printed copy of the Resolutions, together with a copy of the Address intended to be presented.
