Thurlow Township : historical notes from 'The Rambling River'

File contains a typescript excerpt of The Rambling River, written and compiled by Mary G. Plumption, concerning the early settlement of Thurlow Township from 1784, together with brief biographical information on Lord Thurlow, and Baron Rawdon, Earl of Moira. Also present are four printed lists of Thurlow Township land holders by name and date of patent from 1798-1818.

Trenton : The Evolution of Trenton

File contains a printed booklet entitled “The Evolution of Trenton Ontario,” published in 1913, providing a history of the community from the late 18th century, its incorporation as a town, and the industrial and commercial development of the centre. Also present are several newspaper articles concerning Trenton's evolution into a town in 1880.

Simmons Family Papers

This file contains original documents donated by Charlotte Kuntze, daughter of Fanny Finkle. Papers regarding lot 2, con 6 of Sidney owned by Eliza Ann Simmons, contain abstract record, will, mortgage and correspondence.

Culbertson, John

This file contains a photocopy of a deed for land to John Culbertson in May 1886, in the Mohawk Village Indian Reserve on the Bay of Quinte, inherited from his grandfather Captain John Deserontyon.

Alan Rayburn collection

The file contains a letter from Alan Rayburn dated 23 August 2002. Along with the letter there are copies of some responses received by James White, Canada's chief geographer, dated 1905-1909, from postmasters in Hastings County providing information on how and when each place was named.
