Simpson, Margaret

The file contains a copy of an article from Outlook, dated October 1991 Issue 96, from the Hastings County Historical Society, titled "200th Anniversary of Arrival in Canada of Tavern Owner, Margaret Simpson of Belleville." The file also contains a family genealogy, several letters pertaining to the family history and a couple of newspaper articles about the family.

Stamps

File contains a letter dated 20 June 1963 from A.D. Tushingham, Royal Ontario Museum to A.S. Stalker, Hastings County Clerk, soliciting cancelled stamps in the County's files, for the philatelic collection of the ROM. A second letter of 28 June 1963 from A. S. Stalker forwards the contents to the attention of Gerald Boyce, Hastings Historical Society.

  2. two Travelers Insurance Company (Hartford) policies issued to Andrew Thomson, 11 August 1869 and 1870
  3. a letter of administration issued by the Surrogate Court concerning the estate of Matilda Jane Thomson, issued 6 April 1892

Turf Club 1860

File contains a copy of a newspaper article, dated 4th September 1860 from the Intelligencer. A meeting was held in Belleville on 26th August 1850 for the purpose of establishing a Turf Club.

Ponton, W.N. : invitations and receptions

File contains a manuscript invitation to a banquet in honour of Col. Frederick W. Prince, United States Consul, 8 July 1885, and a printed program for a reception of the Occident Chapter of the Masons, 12 December 1919. Also present are several newspaper clippings on miscellaneous subjects including wills, and weather.
