Port Royal

File contains a booklet titled "The Reconstruction of the Port Royal Habitation of 1605-13" (now Lower Granville, Annapolis, Nova Scotia), reprinted from the Canadian Historical Review December, 1939. Donated by A.R. Schryner.

Rawdon Township : diary of W. Hambly, 1793-1794

File contains a reproduction of a manuscript diary of W. Hambly, surveyor, for the period 6 December 1793 to 1 May 1794. The diary entries discuss the survey process in Thurlow, Sidney, Huntingdon and Rawdon Townships. Also present is a typescript transcript of the diary with an appended footnote section which contains a glossary of terms.

File contains several newspaper clippings concerning the election of the Rawdon Township Council, and minutes of its meetings, 1957. Also present is a photocopied excerpt of the Hastings County Directory, 1860-1861, and 1864-1865 with statistics for Rawdon Township including names of property owners listing occupations, and location of properties by lot and concession number.

Also present is a completed, printed approval of the Board of Endowment Office, Toronto, of an application for purchase of lot 28, concession 3, Township of Murray by William Robertson, 29 August 1851.

File contains an original newspaper article from the Ontario Intelligencer, dated 25 May 1933 about the death of Lester Ross and Catherine Badgley, last of their generation of the descendants of Zenas Ross, U.E. File contains a biography of Zenas Ross (circa. 1750) and his descendants.

Chard, River Valley Women's Institute, to Gerry Boyce, President of the Hastings County Historical Society, concerning the history of the River Valley and Oak Hills community ca. 1910-1967; a five page genealogy of early settler families in River Valley and Oak Hill; and a manuscript essay on the history of River Valley ca.1881-1959 by Mrs. Roy Bush, Stirling. Also present are several newspaper clippings concerning meetings of the River Valley Women's Institute, 1960-1964.
