Carry On Sergeant Synopsis of Story

Typescript synopsis of the story of 'Carry On Sergeant!'. The synopsis is in two parts, with an introduction which reads "In reading the following synopsis it must be realized that it does not incorporate any of the many gags which will embellish the picture throughout. This synopsis, however, gives a fairly full and colorful idea of the story. The few bits of dialogue and the introduction of one or two semi-gags are only intended as an indication".

This collection comprises three main series: materials relating to the filming of 'Carry On Sergeant!' in 1927-1928; photographs of the film and used as research materials; and items relating to Harold Stinson's taxi company and service station in Trenton, Ontario.

Photographs taken in northeast France during the First World War. They are all stamped "French Pictorial Service, 200 West 42nd Street, N.Y.". They all depict scenes relating to the war and may have been used as research material for the filming of 'Carry On Sergeant!'.

Harold Stinson company account books

Six volumes. Book 1 is a ledger organized by customer name for Harold Stinson's taxi business, 1926-1928. It details the trips made by Stinson in those two years, including for Bruce Bairnsfather, the Canadian International Films studio and several members of the cast and crew of 'Carry On Sergeant!'.

Books 2 to 6 are journal accounts for Stinson's service station between 1935 and 1941. Files 7 to 9 hold ephemera including invoices for the service station, ration books from the Second World War. This series also includes a bag of meat ration tokens.
