Orange Lodge 1861

File contains one newspaper article (copy) publishing the date and time of the Annual Meeting of the Grand Orange Lodge of Central Canada to be held in the Town of Belleville 12-February-1861.

Northumberland Historical Society : clippings

File consists of several newspaper clippings concerning activities of the Northumberland County Historical Society in1956-1957. Includes clippings related to the acquisition of the historic Barnum House and its conversion to a museum in 1957. Also present is a newspaper clipping and photograph dated 29 July 1959 concerning the unveiling of a historical plaque at Presqu'ile Provincial Park commemorating the loss of the schooner 'Speedy,' which sank in 1804 in Lake Ontario off Presqu'ile Point.

File contains (3) newspaper articles, from the weekly column "Historic Belleville" contributed by members of the Hastings County Historical Society:

File contains "Prince Edward County Old Boys' Reunion Official Souvenir Book. Compiled and printed by the Picton Gazette subject to direction of the Centennial Committee and the Historical Committee June 1937. A brief chapter is devoted to each township in the County of Prince Edward.

Plainfield : miscellany

File contains a newspaper clipping from the Ontario Intelligencer, 14 April 1959 concerning the election of officers of the Plainfield Women's Institute. Also includes an obituary of Harry McCreary, Plainfield, telephone pioneer and former owner-operator of the McCreary Telephone Company who created early rural telephone lines in Thurlow and Sidney Townships. Also present is a duplicate copy of a printed booklet entitled “Progress Report : Ontario Homes for Mentally Retarded Infants, Plainfield, May 1951-December 1965. “

Moneymore Loyal Orange Lodge Centennial, 1957

File contains two newspaper articles concerning the Moneymore Loyal Orange Lodge Centennial celebration, July 4, 1957, and the death of former resident and LOL member, Dr. Harry Gordon Carleton. Also contains a manuscript note from Dr. Carleton regarding an upcoming trip to England in 1957, and a printed booklet concerning the Moneymore centennial, entitled “Our Hundredth Anniversary” / by the Carleton L.O.L. no. 838, Moneymore, Ontario.

McLaren, Rev. William : lecture “The Unity of the Human Race' delivered at the Belleville YMCA, 1860

File contains two printed copies of “The Unity of the Human Race,” a lecture delivered before the members of the Belleville Young Men's Christian Association, 19 March 1860 by Rev. William McLaren, John Street Presbyterian Church, Belleville. Also present is a typescript history of the Belleville YMCA by Vera Weir, produced for the 75th Annual Meeting in 1969.
