McClure Township : field notes 1858-1870

File contains a microcopied manuscript diary and field notes of the township of McClure, 1858 by J.S. Peterson, Provincial Land Surveyor. Also contains a microcopied manuscript report and field notes of the township of McClure. 1870 by Cosford Chalmers Forneri and Lachlan Kennedy, Provincial Land Surveyors.

McClure Township : historical survey

File contains a typescript historical survey with questions concerning the geography, settlement and and social and economic development of communities in Hastings County together with manuscript notes completed by D.K. Card in response to the survey of McClure Township. Also present is typescript and manuscript correspondence from and received by Gerry Boyce concerning the history of McClure Township for his book, Historic Hastings. Bessie M. Fleming may have contributed some of these materials.

File contains manuscript quit claims and deeds concerning the following properties:
i) part of lot number nine, eighth concession, Township of Marmora, purchased by James Madison Tuttle and Laura Maria Tuttle from Richard O. Rothwell, 30 May 1877;
ii)-west half of lot number sixteen in the fifth concession of the Township of Madoc purchased by George Dean Dickson and Marian Ellen Wilson Dickson from Thomas Comerford, 2 December 1882;
iii)-five acres on lot fifteen, fifth concession in the Township of Madoc, purchased by Thomas Comerford from David Pitceathly, Thomas Kelso et al, 11 June 1884;

Joseph Mills : lot 11 (Grier St.)

File contains a manuscript tax receipt issued to Joseph Mills, Lot 11 W. Grier by the City of Belleville on Sept. 26, 1902, and a tax notice issued to Joseph Mills on August 30, 1902. Also present is a manuscript statement of accounts of Joseph Mills, issued by J.M. Burke ca. 1895. Also includes a manuscript letter received by Joseph Mills from David & Mary [Buffet?] 21 June 1895.

McCullough Family : history

File contains a printed booklet entitled “Pioneer Souls : the History of the McCullough Sept,” by Dr. T. J. Harrison, concerning the history of the McCullough Family who originated from Scotland, with branches of the family settling in Hastings County in the 1820s.
