Marmora & Lake Townships : certificate of election of reeves

File contains two manuscript cetificates of Reeve issued by the Clerk of Marmora and Lake Townships certifying the election of Hugh Jones as Reeve in 1871 and James Hamilton as Reeve in 1867. Also contains a manuscript memorial of the municipal council of Marmora and Lake Townships requesting funds for road improvement in 1871.

Madoc : history and churches

File contains a newspaper clipping and photocopied manuscript history of Madoc Township from early French exploration in 1615 to ca. 1965, including a discussion of the creation of roads, schools and local churches. The historical research was composed by Mrs. Ken Bateman for Gerry Boyce as background for Historic Hastings.

Lake Township

File contains photocopies of printed excerpts from The Hastings Directory, 1860-61, 1864-1865, and 1889-1890, listing landowners and lot locations in Lake Township. Also contains a photocopied printed excerpt from W.H. Smith, Canada: Past, Present and Future, with a brief description of Lake Township in 1851.

Ivanhoe Articles

File contains three newspaper clippings about Ivanhoe including the Beulah Cooperative Cheese Company, a public notice about the Canadian Pacific discontinuing the Agency at the Ivanhoe Station, and Women's Institute at St. Andrew's Church marked the 50th anniversary.

Hobbies 1963-5

File contains newspaper clipping about various Belleville residents and their hobbies/collections: Percy Gelsthorpe builds steam engine train models, Charles Morton took up whittling during retirement, and Wayne Hustins has a collection showing the rise and fall of the Nazis Empire.

File contains various newspaper clippings about Hastings County Council activities from 1962-1966 such as: an assessment report, Hungerford Township Reeve Harold Varty elected as Warden, a meeting to discuss hospital requirements, creation of a harbour commission, Rawdon Reeve Fred Beckett elected as Warden, surplus of the budget, Thurlow Reeve Clayton Hall elected as Warden, etc.
