File contains a newspaper article concerning the use of Indigenous curriculum and texts in Mohawk schools in 1966. Also contains a newspaper article on the history of the Tyendinaga Mohawk and the nature of government and education on Tyendinaga Reserve.

Laycock, Samuel R. : health education specialist

File contains a mimeographed biography of Samuel Laycock, Ph.D. professor of educational psychology, formerly of Madoc, Ontario. Also contains a typsecript transcript of an undated CBC Radio Talk by Dr. Laycock, a typescript copy of “A Pre-Confederation Canadian Teacher—William H. Minchin” by Dr. S.R. Laycock, an obituary of Dr. Laycock dated 1971, and several letters to the Hastings County Museum from individuals commenting on the life and career of Dr. Laycock.

Limerick Township : history

File contains a photocopy of a printed essay contributed by Mrs. G.V. Thompson, Mrs. Thomas Ham, and Mr. A. G. Giles, concerning early settlement, the erection of schools , lumbering and agricultural development of Limerick Township in the period from 1863 to ca. 1935. Also contains a two-page photocopied excerpt from the Hastings Directory, 1864-1865 listing landholders by concession and lot in Limerick Township. Includes a newsclipping from the Ontario Intelligencer announcing the opening of Limerick Central School in St. Ola in 1964.

Madoc : history and churches

File contains a newspaper clipping and photocopied manuscript history of Madoc Township from early French exploration in 1615 to ca. 1965, including a discussion of the creation of roads, schools and local churches. The historical research was composed by Mrs. Ken Bateman for Gerry Boyce as background for Historic Hastings.

Madoc Village : early advertisements,

File contains photocopies and original printed advertisements of miscellaneous businesses in Madoc. Also contains a printed invitation to the laying of the cornerstone of Madoc High School, July 2, 1934. Also present is a manuscript extract from the Ontario Provincial Board of Health concerning dams in the Madoc area in the 1870s.

File contains manuscript marriage and militia enlistment certificates from London [Ont.] and Middlesex County, Ontario involving members of the Merry Family. Also contains two newspaper articles concerning Miss Neil Merry, a former teacher in Saskatchewan, and at Belleville Collegiate Institute.
