Fonds consists of records pertaining to Earl Gilbert Wheeler of the 13th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, Canadian Expeditionary Force. The folders are composed of personal letters to Gunner Wheeler's friends and family written while he was stationed at various posts throughout World War I. It also includes financial documents, educational certificates and other professional and personal papers. In addition to these records, documents containing correspondence about his injury, the search for his whereabouts, as well as his death certificate.

File contains typescript originals and copies of correspondence from the Canadian Departments of Militia and Defence, and Lands & Mines, received by Amos Frederick concerning his claim for a volunteer bounty arising from his participation as a militia member in the Fenian Raids of 1866.
File contains a photocopied printed article which includes a brief historical profile of the Belleville Rifles and 15th Battalion at the time of the Fenian Raids, and a list of veterans.
File contains a photocopied printed newsclipping with a drawing of a medal presented to veterans of the Fenian Raids in 1866. A manuscript annotation on the clipping relates: “presented to Mac Bowell.”
Fenian Raids : military volunteer fund, statue to volunteers, 1868
File contains a manuscript resolution of the Hastings County Council to secure compensation from the provincial Committee of the Volunteers' Relief Fund for volunteer militia members in the Fenian Raids of 1866. Includes correspondence from J P Peirce to the Warden of the County of Hastings, dated January 22-April 1868 concerning the design of and request of donations for a monument to be erected in Queen's Park commemorating volunteers who died in the Fenian Raids at Ridgeway, [Ontario]. Also present is a printed appeal for donations together with a proposed drawing of a statue to be erected in honour of the veterans of the Fenian Raids.
File contains a photocopy of a June 1, 1866 article in The Intelligencer concerning Fenian raids in the Fort Erie and Port Colborne areas of Canada West. Also contains several newspaper clippings regarding the Fenian Raids and the dispatching of of the First Belleville Rifles to Prescott to repel the Fenian invaders.
File contains several original and photocopied newspaper articles concerning the events of the Fenian Raids in 1866 and the awarding of medals to veterans in 1900. Lists of names of veterans are present by regiment and militia battalion.

File contains a newspaper clipping about West Coast fireman Duncan Anderson returning to Belleville before a Fireman's Convention in Toronto. He was an air gunner with RCAF and trained at Ontario School for the Deaf, which was taken over by RCAF during the war.

File contains typescript correspondence from Leslie Whitford to Mrs. J.W. Sargent Secretary, Hastings County Historical Society March 6-March12, 1964 concerning the 1871 annual inspection of the Grand Trunk Railway Brigade in Belleville under the command of Captains Nunn and Crowther. Also contains a photocopied article entitled “The Grand Trunk Railway Brigade” by Barbara Wilson, concerning special militia units composed of employees of the Grand Trunk Railway authorized by Canadian Order in Council in 1867 to act in states of emergency (published in the Canadian Army Journal 17 (2) in 1963).
File contains information about the Halliwell family, who served with the Belleville Company in the Northwest Rebellion in 1885, and Colonel Halliwell's life in Hastings County until 1900.
