Genealogical Project by Belleville Public Library – Sills, Mrs. Ralph: Family Trees

This file contains spreadsheets of a genealogical project prepared by The Belleville Public Library, dated March 1999. There are seventy-seven pages of local family names and source listings of organizations that hold information on the families. Also included is a five page document written by The Hastings County Historical Society about family trees, dated June 15 1975.

Zwick's Island

The file contains a newspaper article from the Ontario Intelligencer. It is a letter to the Editor from T.G. Wrightmeyer about the proposition by the then Mayor Haig to change the name of Zwick's Island. The article gives the history of this parcel of land dating back to 1790 given to Captain Phillip Zwick and subsequent generations.

Palmer family photograph album

Photograph album with snapshots of children and pets. Some of the images show cars, trains, and manufacturing sites in and around Trenton, Ontario. One photograph shows Harry Palmer after winning the Deacon Road Race between Trenton and Belleville on 7 September 1908.

Simpson, Margaret

The file contains a copy of an article from Outlook, dated October 1991 Issue 96, from the Hastings County Historical Society, titled "200th Anniversary of Arrival in Canada of Tavern Owner, Margaret Simpson of Belleville." The file also contains a family genealogy, several letters pertaining to the family history and a couple of newspaper articles about the family.

The file contains a number of newspaper clippings from the 1930s about local residents and buildings. Also contains a piece of writing titled "The History of Friend Andrews told by Alexander Andrews (1959). The item is dated 20 January 1961 and is a genealogy of the Andrews family.
